In an unprecedented opportunity, Filming Indo recently took center stage as the fixer and Indian news coordinator during the G20 Summit in New Delhi. Working in collaboration with the TV Asahi Bangkok bureau, our team played a crucial role in covering diverse news stories, with a special focus on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, considering India’s strategic ties with Russia and its unique stance amid the global discourse.
During our days of intense coverage, Filming Indo delved into the intricacies of India-Russia relations, uncovering fascinating stories that showcased the depth of this strategic partnership. Notably, the Goa shipyard’s involvement in supplying 24 cargo ships to Russia for deployment in the Caspian Sea highlighted the robust economic and defense ties between the two nations. Additionally, we explored the Indo-Russia Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) facility in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, where the production of the AK-200 variant of the Kalashnikov family of rifles is underway under Russian collaboration.
One of the surprising discoveries during our journey was the presence of a significant number of Russian tourists in Goa, earning the region the moniker “Little Russia.” Filming Indo facilitated TV Asahi crews in exploring Morjim, Goa, and introduced viewers to the Russian community residing there. Through personal narratives, we shed light on the unique cultural exchange between India and Russia in this picturesque setting.
Our journey extended beyond the political arena as we visited Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. Here, we covered the Japan International Cooperation Agency‘s (JICA) contribution to the Agra Water Supply Project in Uttar Pradesh. With a loan of 41,101 million Japanese Yen, the project aimed to provide safe drinking water to 1.7 million people in the region. Filming Indo documented the Intake Structure & Tube Settler unit at Jeoni Mandi, a significant milestone in this ambitious project.
Throughout the G20 Summit, Filming Indo’s representative, Rahul, played a pivotal role in supporting TV Asahi crews by conducting research and providing translation services during various summit sessions. This behind-the-scenes effort ensured that the coverage of the summit was comprehensive and accurate, offering viewers a deeper understanding of the global discussions taking place in New Delhi.
