ANUJA by Adam J Graves. India Line Producer FILMING INDO

At Filming Indo, we are thrilled to have served as the India line producer for the short film “ANUJA” for US based Production Company. Today, we invite you to dive into the behind-the-scenes of “ANUJA” and discover the magic that unfolded during its creation.

The Story of “ANUJA”

“ANUJA” follows the journey of a precocious nine-year-old orphan who toils away in a back-alley garment factory. When she unexpectedly receives an opportunity to attend boarding school, Anuja is faced with a decision that will shape the course of her future and that of her family. Through Anuja’s poignant story, the film explores themes of resilience, determination, and the power of education to transform lives.

Filming Locations and Production in India

Spanning 11 days of filming across New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, “ANUJA” required meticulous planning and execution. As the line producer, Filming Indo took charge of all production-related aspects, from budgeting and location scouting to set design, costume selection, casting, production coordination, catering, and transportation. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless filming experience, allowing the creative vision of director Adam J. Graves to come to life on screen.

Director’s Vision: Adam J. Graves

Adam J. Graves, the visionary behind “ANUJA,” brings a unique blend of academic prowess and creative insight to the project. With a background in philosophy and extensive experience in India, Adam infuses the film with depth and authenticity, drawing inspiration from his interactions with the country’s diverse communities. His commitment to exploring the human experience through film is evident in his previous works, including the short film “Cycle Vérité” and the documentary “The Other Side of the Sun.”

Community Collaboration

“ANUJA” was made possible through collaboration with various community partners, with the Salaam Baalak Trust playing a pivotal role in the film’s production. This nonprofit organization, dedicated to empowering street and working children, provided invaluable support and insight, enriching the authenticity of Anuja’s story. Notably, Sajda Pathan, who portrays the titular character, is a resident of a Salaam Baalak residential center, adding an extra layer of authenticity to her portrayal.

“ANUJA” is more than just a short film; it is a testament to the power of storytelling to inspire change and foster hope. Through Anuja’s journey, we are reminded of the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative potential of education. Filming Indo is honored to have played a part in bringing this impactful story to life, and we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such talented individuals and organizations.
